Spearfish, SD – March 19th, 2025 – Alec Keating, President of Keating Resources, a family-owned investment company, announced today that the last remaining retail space of their property at 714 Main Street in Spearfish, SD, has been leased to Kernels and Kandies. Originally a beloved staple of Oklahoma City, OK, Kernels and Kandies is owned and operated by Spearfish-based husband and wife team, Jenifer & Daniel Tadra. The specialty store will include a curated selection of gourmet popcorn, homemade fudge, and other popular confections. The store will be open and operating by June 1st, 2025.
“We are excited to welcome Kernels & Kandies to our building and to downtown Spearfish,” Alec said. “This project was a labor of love, and we’re proud to have played a role in preserving a piece of the city’s history while also creating opportunities for local businesses to thrive.”
The building itself has historical significance – Keating Resources invested $800,000 in order to save and restore the 100-year-old historic structure, which they own outright. The restoration was aided by several local businesses – Rapid City-based Albertson Engineering provided structural engineering services, fellow Rapid City-based Cunningham Architecture provided architectural services, and Spearfish-based HGH Construction provided construction services. Realtors®️Ariel Rudland of West River Realty in Rapid City and Mark Kazmer of Century 21 Spearfish Realty provided leasing services.
Keating Resources is a Dallas, Texas-based real estate investment company focusing on value-added real estate assets in South Dakota, Texas, and Florida. The company was founded in 2004 and is owned by father-son team Gerard & Alec Keating.
